Hire Terms & Conditions

Booking Procedure

Complete and return the relevant hire forms, together with a non-refundable deposit of £200 per week which will be deducted from the total hire charge.  We will also require copies of all driving licences and proof of address (utility bill).  5 days prior to your hire, we will require a DVLA share code for all licences (we will send instructions on how to obtain this code).

Payment for the remaining balance of the hire will be due 6 weeks before the date of hire (an invoice will be sent to you).  If the balance is not paid when due, West Country Motorhomes Ltd reserves the right to cancel the booking.



Drivers must be over 25 years and under 75 years of age and have held a full Driving Licence for at least one year.  The licence must be unendorsed (except for speeding and parking offences) For over 75 please ask for more information.


Collection and Return

Vehicles are available on Fridays from 3.00pm onwards and must be returned by 10.00am on Fridays.


Minimum Hire Period

1 week for UK and Continental use.



The following charges will apply if reservation is cancelled.

Cancellation periods:

6 weeks or more before the start of hire: Loss of deposit

Between 6 and 4 weeks before start of hire : 20% of hire charge

Between 4 and 2 weeks before start of hire : 30% of hire charge

Less than 2 weeks before start of hire : 50% of hire charge

Insurance cover is advised to safeguard against this possibility.


Late Arrivals

If a hirer fails to collect the hire vehicle on the day and time agreed.  West Country Motorhomes Ltd reserves the right to cancel the booking and accept no liability for any inconvenience caused.  No refund will be issued except the damage deposit.


Late Returns

Failure to return the hire vehicle on time will incur a penalty charge of 1 week hire. NB The vehicle will not be insured and therefore drivers are liable to criminal prosecution.



If due to circumstances beyond our control the vehicle reserved is not available, we reserve the right to offer a suitable alternative.


Cancellation by West Country Motorhomes Ltd

We have the right to cancel the hire, if at the time of collection, the nominated drivers’ licences are invalid or not in accordance with the Terms and Conditions.  All monies paid by the hirer (except the refundable security deposit) will be forfeited to West Country Motorhomes Ltd.


Security Deposit/Refund

A security deposit of £1,000 will be charged on your invoice.  Deposits are refundable in full provided that the vehicle is returned clean, undamaged and on time.

Un-emptied toilets will be charged at £50 for emptying and cleaning.  Refunds are paid after cleaning and inspection of the vehicle.


Fuel and Oil

These are at the customers’ expense.  Fuel policy is “empty out, empty in”



Comprehensive insurance is included in the hire charge, but you are liable for damage attributable to you up to £1,000 and a deposit of £1,000 to cover the insurance excess is payable with the final balance.  Hirers are advised to arrange their own personal effects and travel insurance.  The vehicle is only insured for the hire period and therefore the driving of the vehicle after the expiry of the contract period may result in the driver committing a traffic offence.  Furthermore, the hirer is entirely responsible for any accidental damage, injury and consequential loss after the expiry of the hire period.



In the event of a breakdown or accident, recovery services are at the disposal of the hirer.  Instructions for replacements, at a cost not exceeding £100 may be given by the hirer, who will be reimbursed on the production of receipted invoices.  Company approval must be obtained in respect of repairs/replacements in excess of £100.  West Country Motorhomes Ltd is not responsible for hotel or any other consequential expenses subsequent to a breakdown, but will refund the hire charges for any complete days loss of use of the vehicle.  Every effort is made to ensure that the vehicle is in a safe and roadworthy condition before it leaves our company premises, but West Country Motorhomes Ltd shall be under no liability for third party claims or damages in connection with, or subsequent upon, any accident or breakdown.  In the event of an accident involving the vehicle a completed Accidental Report Form must be handed to West Country motorhomes Ltd at the termination of hire.



You may leave your car in our secure compound while you are away.  All vehicles are left entirely at your own risk and we accept no responsibility for any loss or damage which may arise.


Hire Then Buy

If, within twelve months of hire you decide to purchase a new or used motorhome from West Country Motorhomes Ltd, we will refund the cost of the hire (up to a maximum of two weeks hire), excluding VAT.  N.B The refund of hire charges against the purchase of a motorhome cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.



We do allow pets.  However, there is an additional charge of £50 for the first week, £25 per week thereafter


European Travel

A European Travel Pack includes headlamp adjusters, reflective safety vests, warning triangles, first aid kit, tool kit and breakdown assistance contact numbers (this is a legal requirement for European travel).  The cost of the pack is £95 per week for the first 2 weeks, £70 per week thereafter.


We operate a mixed selection of hire motorhomes, specifications and designs may vary and the features and layouts in the brochure are given only as an example.  West Country Motorhomes Ltd reserves the right to vary rates and conditions of hire and to refuse to hire to any person without giving reason.
